Why the 1911 is much better.
Many people recognize the Glock pistol, This is because of many reasons, but mainly, the pistol is very cheap, rappers commonly refer to it, and the company is huge. The Glock is the go-to gun for both people who know nothing about guns, and people who shoot them for a living. One thing I have to give to Glock, is due to their large popularity, they have THOUSANDS of upgrades available. The Glock is a polymer pistol, made in Australia, that comes in various calibers and sizes to fit everyone's needs. Because of its polymer construction the Glock is very light weight, and therefore, easy to conceal.
The other very popular pistol is the 1911. Despite the name, the 1911 was first made in 1913 by John Browning who designed it in 1911. The 1911 is a classic american pistol with full steel construction. The 1911 has been used in several wars, until recently, it was replaced by the Glock. One reason for this change was the expense of buying a 1911 chambered in 9mm (a more manageable round). One other reason was the price difference. A 1911 can cost as much as you want, but most sit around $800. A Glock however cost $500 on average, thus giving another incentive for the world to catch on to.
I personally hate Glock's. Glocks have a very aggressive grip angle (meaning the angle is very shallow) which makes the gun feel as if it is pointing to the ground. The other thing I hate about glocks is how cheap they feel. In order to have a glock feel like a quality piece you need something like the SAI series. A 1911 on the other hand feels like a quality made firearm that will last a lifetime. I own two 1911’s and would never consider buying a Glock for one reason. The caliber. My 1911’s are both chambered in the traditional 45 ACP. A massive round. Many people argue against the 45ACP because of its recoil, and that's where my next point comes up, the trigger. 1911’s have a trigger with a very short pretravel which allows for a very crisp break and little overtravel, the Glock feels like squeezing a sponge. Another thing people always say is “yea but I still like the 9mm, I can deal with the trigger and upgrade it one day”. The Sig Sauer p226 is the solution. This is the gun used by the navy seals, and for a good reason. The P226 is another full steel gun, but unlike the 1911, it is chambered in the holy 9MM. I have shot several Glocks and out of the total 1000 ish rounds i've shot in them, they've jammed about 15 times. My Sig Sauer P226 Legion has shot over 5000 rounds with one failure due to wet ammunition.
All in all I think the 1911 is the best gun around, and if you really can't handle its power and need a 9MM, buy another steel frame like a Sig or STI 2011(9mm version of the 1911).
